Marriott Salt Lake Downtown City Creek
75 South West Temple St
Salt Lake City, Utah
On behalf of the Wasatch Front Regional Council, we welcome hundreds of our colleagues and friends from MPOs and related agencies from across the country to this year's AMPO conference. We value the opportunity to collaborate with our peers to share best practices, analyze data, and help shape state and federal transportation funding priorities and practices. We look forward to working with all of you on these shared goals.
We trust that you'll have a wonderful time in Utah – especially if you take the time to explore Utah's natural wonders! Utah boasts five national parks (Zion, Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef), the best snow on earth in the Wasatch Mountains, and Salt Lake City is buzzing with excitement about hosting the 2034 Winter Olympic Games! We hope that you'll visit Utah's red rock deserts, its mountains, the Olympic venues, the state capitol, the global headquarters for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, as well as the restaurants and shopping within walking distance of the conference hotel.
Wasatch Front Regional Council represents six counties in the greater Salt Lake City area, under the shadow of the Wasatch mountain range. As one of four MPOs in Utah, WFRC builds consensus through the Wasatch Choice Vision, our communities' shared vision for coordinated transportation investments, development patterns, and economic opportunities. Focusing on transportation choices, housing options, parks & public spaces, and city & town centers, the vision enhances quality of life here in one of the fastest growing regions in the nation. That broad Vision helps to shape Utah's Unified Transportation Plan, which all of Utah's MPOs, DOT, and transit agencies collaborate to prepare to chart the long-term future of our multimodal transportation system.
We gather here in Salt Lake City this week to further this kind of collaboration on a national level. This year, AMPO is launching a new initiative, inviting students and young professionals to attend and present their research. Together, we are investing in the future of transportation planning. Please join us in thanking the sponsors, presenters, attendees and organizers who together have made this event possible.
Enjoy your time in Utah!

The original "heart" of SLC was the Mormon Temple Square. It took the Mormon settlers 40 years to complete the central edifice. In 2020, the LDS Church embarked on a significant project to modernize and update the area. This is both an extremely complicated and expensive seismic upgrade as well as a comprehensive redesign that affects all the structures within this 10-acre site. The tour will start with a look at the LDS Church Conference Center (CCB), a facility that has a 21,000-person capacity, where there will be a short presentation on the project. Following the presentation, participants will visit the roof of the CCB to view the project and then into Temple Square for a more up-close look through fence windows.

TO STAY HEALTHY…
Keep the ideas flowing, the networking robust, and the germs away by following these best practices for a healthy conference environment:
• Frequent Handwashing: Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after touching surfaces or items in shared spaces. Hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the venue for your convenience. It's also a good idea to disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as phones and electronic devices.
• Respiratory Etiquette: Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of used tissues properly and perform hand hygiene immediately.
• Stay Away if Unwell: If you experience any symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, or difficulty breathing, we urge you to prioritize your health and the health of others by staying in your hotel room.
• Avoid Touching Your Face: Refrain from touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands, as this can introduce germs into your body.
• Respect Mask Choices: Wearing or not wearing a mask is entirely your choice – and we ask that everyone respect those choices.
Your cooperation in following these best practices is crucial to creating a safe and enjoyable conference experience for all attendees. Let's work together to prioritize health and well-being. Thank you for your understanding and support.
